THE JOURNEY
EL CHALTÉN · DAYS 3 & 4
Argentina's trekking capital sits in the shadow of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre — two of earth's most dramatic granite spires. Three days of guided hiking at your own pace: from the panoramic viewpoints of Mirador de los Condores to the full-day climb to Laguna de los Tres at the very base of the towers. Condors overhead, glaciers ahead, and silence in every direction.
EL CALAFATE · DAY 6
30 kilometres long. 60 metres tall. And still advancing. Stand on the catwalks as seracs the size of buildings calve thunderously into the turquoise lake below — or strap on crampons and walk directly across the glacier's surface with an expert guide. Two unforgettable options. Choose your adventure.
CHILE · DAYS 8–10
Four nights at Explora Lodge puts you at the heart of Chile's most celebrated national park. Hike to Gray Glacier floating with icebergs, ride horseback through flower-strewn valleys, or climb toward the iconic Towers at golden hour. Five guided excursions daily, in groups of ten. Return each evening to the warmth of the lodge, open bar, and Patagonian cuisine.
ARGENTINA · DAY 1
Begin in South America's most sophisticated capital. Belle Époque boulevards, world-class parrillas, street tango, and a city that never slows. Your private Southern Explorations guide leads a personalised two-hour walking tour on arrival — a perfect first taste of Argentina before the wilderness takes over.
THE PROGRAMME
Every day designed. Every moment earned.
Upon arrival, your Southern Explorations guide meets you at the airport and transfers you to Casa Lucia. Your guide accompanies you to the neighbourhood of your choice — La Boca, San Telmo, or the elegant streets of Palermo — for a two-hour private walking tour. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore at leisure.
Morning flight south to El Calafate, then a private three-to-four hour transfer to El Chaltén with stunning views of Fitz Roy in the background. Check in to Destino Sur and meet your private guide for an evening briefing on tomorrow's adventure.
A full day in Patagonia — your guide presents options from a mellow hike to Mirador de los Condores and Mirador de las Aguilas (panoramic views of Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, and Lago Viedma) to the full-day challenge of Laguna de los Tres at the base of Mt. Fitz Roy. Turquoise glacial lakes, granite needles, and gourmet picnic lunch on the trail.
Another day, another adventure. Options range from a half-day hike to Mirador Pliegue Tumbado — sweeping views over the entire valley — to a full-day guided trek to the base of Cerro Torre through the Fitz Roy River Valley. Views of the Adelas peaks and glaciers. Picnic lunch included.
Transfer to El Calafate and meet your driver from EOLO Lodge for the 30-minute scenic drive to one of Patagonia's most distinctive properties. Settle in, take in the steppe views, and enjoy a quiet first evening at the lodge.
Two world-class options await. Option 1: Private sightseeing tour with catwalks and a glacier boat cruise — eye level with the calving face and a crossing of Lake Rico past floating icebergs. Option 2: The Ice Hike — crampon-fitted, two hours trekking directly across the glacier surface through crevasses and ice formations. Your guide will advise based on your preference and fitness.
Cross the border into Chile and enter Torres del Paine National Park. Photograph guanacos on their summer grazing grounds against the backdrop of the soaring towers. Arrive at Explora Lodge — the pinnacle of the journey — and spend the evening over drinks at the bar while your guide walks you through the week ahead.
Three days entirely dedicated to one of earth's most extraordinary places. Hike to Gray Glacier floating in a lake of icebergs. Climb toward the base of the iconic Towers at sunrise. Ride horseback through flower-filled valleys. Five guided excursions depart daily in small groups of up to ten — you choose the intensity and the direction. Return each evening to open bar, Patagonian cuisine, and the stillness of the park.
Early morning transfer to Puerto Natales or Punta Arenas Airport, then onward to Santiago for your international connection home. The road ends here — but Patagonia stays with you.
